Dare Boles
Dare Boles has been a member of the Uptown Gallery since the mid-
1990’s. Her work has evolved from pastel and oil figurative and
landscape paintings to mixed media/collage. There is a strong
emphasis on color, pattern, and texture that is influenced by African
and African-American culture.
Dare has exhibited her work in juried shows across the U.S.; New
York City, Chicago, Austin Tx., Bend Or, and throughout Virginia. A
recent piece was selected by artist Judy Chicago for inclusion in the
2007 Woman’s Work Show in Woodstock Il.
In addition to membership in the Uptown Gallery, Dare is a member of
the Ceres Gallery in New York City where she will have a one-person
show in June, 2008. She is the founder and 2007 President of the
Virginia Collage Society. She is a member of the Bon Air Artist Assoc.
and the First Baptist Church Arts Committee. She has served in a
number of positions in those organizations.
