William Jackson (Jack) Frable
William Jackson Frable, a founding member of Uptown Gallery was
educated at Dartmouth College, Hanover New Hampshire, and went
on to study medicine at Northwestern University Medical School,
Chicago, Illinois.                             

Dr Frable is, as an artist, largely self-taught from high school until the
early 1980's where he began taking formal classes at the Virginia
Museum of Fine Arts, and the Hand Workshop, Richmond VA, between
1983-1990. He has attended the Nimrod Artists Workshops from 1985
to the present day.         

Dr Frable has studied with many eminent people including:        
  • John Morgan, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
  • Shelly Bectel Shepherd, Hand Workshop
  • Anne Lynne, Mabry Hill Brown, Laura Pharus, Joyce Jeffers,
    Susan Maye, Diana Detamore, Rosalie White and Sarah Poly
    at Nimrod Hall, Bath County Virginia
 
He has taken part in many juried shows throughout his artistic career,
namely with:  
  • Virginia Watercolor Society 1992, 1994, 1999 and 2000
  • American Association of Physician Artists Annual Show
    1995, 1997, 1999
  • Central Virginia Watercolor Society, 1999, 2000, 2004
  • Celebration of the Arts 2001, Montpelier Arts Center,
    Montpelier, VA

Dr Frable has taken part in a number of exhibitions including
  • Arts in the Hospital, MCV Hospitals 1990, 1998
  • Fulcrum Gallery, Richmond, 1997
  • Uptown Gallery 2004

He has received a number of awards for his work including:

    Physician Artists Annual Show, 1995
