Solange Brown
Solange is a watercolorist who works from her home studio in
Mechanicsville Va where she lives with her husband Michael.
As a young child she delighted in creating fantasy beings with her
colored pencils. Her dream was to become an artist someday and
her favorite activity growing up was getting together with her cousin,
setting up a still life in the basement of her parents’ home and
drawing for hours. After graduating from college in Quebec city in the
70's she pursued a career in Interior design throughout the Province.
Solange moved to Northern Virginia in the 80's where she worked as a
commercial artist while raising her family. Her desire to grow as an
artist made her continue her education by taking classes in
watercolor, participating in workshops with professional
watercolorists, joining art groups and exchanging ideas with fellow
artists focused on developing their artistic talent.
Solange exhibits her work regularly with her art groups, at Uptown
Gallery and at the Judy Newcomb Gallery in Midlothian. She also
participates in numerous outdoor shows in Virginia. She is best
known for her imaginary work, particularly angels in which she finds
the most satisfying expression of her talent.
