Solange Brown
Solange, is a water media artist who works from her home studio in
Mechanicsville Va, where she lives with her husband Michael.

As a young child she delighted in creating fantasy beings with her
colored pencils. Her dream was to become an artist someday and her
favorite activity growing up was getting together with her artist cousin,
setting up a still life in the basement of her parents’ home and
drawing for hours.

After graduating from College in Quebec city in the 70's she pursued a
career in Interior design throughout the Province. Solange moved to
Northern Virginia in the 80's where she worked as a commercial artist
while raising her family. Her desire to grow as an artist made her
continue her education by taking art classes and participating in
workshops with professional artists, joining art groups and
exchanging with fellow artists focused on developing their artistic
talent.

She is an active member of the
Bon Air Artists Association, the
Metropolitan Richmond Artists Association
and a signature member
of the
Virginia Watercolor Society. She exhibits her work regularly
with her art groups and at
Uptown Gallery in Richmond She also
participates in numerous outdoor shows in Virginia.

Solange is best known for her imaginary work, in which she finds the
most satisfying expression of her talent.
“Imaginary work is
what brings the most
joy and satisfaction
in my artistic life. I find
endless inspiration in
the mingling of colors
on a chosen surface
allowing the creative
process to guide my
imagination. Blending
the mysterious world of
the unconscious with
the grace and beauty of
the natural world I let
the emerging shapes
transform into fantasy
beings and abstraction
in the hope that the
image created will
touch and inspire.”
